Dr. Young-Hwan Ahn is an energy andenvironmental economist, currently holding the position of associate professorin the Department of Climate, Environment, and Energy at Sookmyung Women'sUniversity. He also contributes as a member of the Presidential Commission on2050 Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth. His research interests encompassenergy system modeling, greenhouse gas mitigation policies, and the long-termpatterns of technological change.
Dr. Ahn received his Ph.D. from the KoreaAdvanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) Business School in 2002. Duringhis Ph.D. study, he joined the Ph.D. Fellowship program at the United NationsUniversity Institute of Advanced Studies in Tokyo, Japan, from November 1999 toJuly 2000. Throughout his career, Dr. Ahn has held various roles, such asconsulting for the private sector at Eco-Frontier Co. in Seoul, Korea(2002-2004), post-doctoral research at INSEAD, France (2005), and serving as asenior research fellow at the Korea Energy Economics Institute (2006-2010,2016-2019). He has also contributed internationally as a research scholar forthe AIR program of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis(IIASA), Austria (2011-2016). Before joining IIASA, He worked as a team leader,analyzing greenhouse gas mitigation potentials for Korea at the Greenhouse GasInventory and Research Center of Korea (GIR) in Seoul, Korea (2011-2011)

Dr. Sun Kyoung Park is presently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of ICT Environmental Convergence at Pyeongtaek University, Korea. Her research focuses on environmental modeling, climate change, and sustainable development. She obtained her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, in 2005. During her doctoral studies at Georgia Tech, her primary research interest involved identifying effective methods for mitigating regional air pollution. She conducted simulations of regional and local air quality using the Community Multiscale Air Quality Model and proposed viable control strategies.
Following the completion of her Ph.D., Dr. Park worked for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, USA, from 2006 to 2009. This organization assists local governments in regional planning to promote sustainable development. During her tenure, she conducted analyses of air quality for a metropolitan transportation plan, ensuring compliance with established Motor Vehicle Emission Budgets for the region. In 2010, Dr. Park received an offer as an Assistant Professor in the Green Tech MBA program at Hanyang Cyber University, Korea, where she taught courses in environmental engineering, climate change, and green management until 2016. Upon joining Pyeongtaek University in 2017, she expanded her research focus to include epidemiological studies of air quality and climate change, environmental policy, and sustainability.

Hana Kim serves as an associate professor at the School of Digital Humanities & Computational Social Sciences at KAIST, located in South Korea. She holds a B.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering and an M.S. degree in Urban Planning from Seoul National University, South Korea, as well as a Ph.D. in Energy and Environmental Policy from the University of Delaware, United States. Dr. Kim's research focuses on promoting data-driven pro-environmental behavior among diverse stakeholders, including conducting supply chain emissions estimations and interlinkage analyses of energy and water systems.

Earth System Variability and Predictability from Subseasonal to Interdecadal Timescales & Past to Future Earth System Changes
Dr. June-Yi Lee is a climate scientist and an Associate Professor at the Research Center for Climate Sciences and Department of Climate System, Pusan National University. She is also affiliated with the Institute for Basic Science Center for Climate Physics as a Project Leader on Earth System Predictability. Her research interests encompass Earth System variability and predictability, including both physical and biogeochemical processes, from subseasonal to interdecadal timescales and past to future climate changes. Since 2020, she has served as a Co-Chair of the Working Group on Subseasonal to Interdecadal Prediction (WGSIP) of the World Climate Research Program (WCRP). She contributed to the IPCC 6th Assessment Report as a Coordinating Lead Author of the Working Group I report and a Core Writing Team Member of the Synthesis Report.
Dr. Lee received her Ph.D. from Seoul National University in 2003 and worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a postdoctoral fellow from 2003 to 2005. After working at the International Pacific Research Center, University of Hawaii until 2013, she was invited to Pusan National University as a Brainpool Professor. She joined the Research Center for Climate Sciences, at Pusan National University in 2015 as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Moonil Kim is an assistant professor at the department of ICT-Integrated Environment, Pyeongtaek University. He is also working with IIASA for over 8 years in the areas of climate change, climate legislation, policy and governance, land-use and forests, forest inventories, deforestation, and monitoring, reporting, and verification processes as YSSPer or guest researcher or postdoc fellow.
In his research at IIASA during the postdoc fellow period, Mr. Km aimed to analyze the in-situ Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage/Use (BECCS/U) capacity in the forestry sector for green-field bioenergy plants in South Korea under various future geo-strategic relations with (South) East-Asia and Eurasia regions using the IIASA BeWhere and G4M models. He investigated the impacts of simultaneous disturbances such as climate change, industrial forestry, or reforestation on the trade-off and synergy among forest ecosystem services (ES), with a focus on both economic and ecological factors. To capture the optimal balance of Ecology and Economy in Forestry, he used the Perfect Plasticity Approximation (PPA) model which is based on a standard representation of the dynamics of a size-structured population.
He has a Ph.D. in Environmental Planning and Landscape Architecture from Korea University, Seoul, where he specialized in Environmental Management under risk and uncertainty. Currently, his studies focus on biophysical ecosystems, land use, and landscape modeling including forestry, climate change, and renewable energy systems optimization.

Hyun Kim, PhD, is an associate professor in the School of Public Administration at Chungnam National University (CNU) (South Korea) where he serves as School Chair. He obtained his PhD in the urban and environmental policy and planning at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) in 2015, where he developed the perspectives of spatio-temporal vulnerability and resilience in the context of climate crisis. Prior joining CNU, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Notre Dame (USA) on the nexus of climate change, climate adaptation, armed conflict and urban adaptation assessment. His areas of research interest include urban and environmental planning and policy, climate and energy policy, policy analysis, and science-policy interface. Dr. Baehyun Min, currently department head, is an associate professor in the Department of Climate and Energy Systems Engineering at Ewha Womans University since 2017. He is also engaged in the Interdisciplinary Program of Social Economics and HOKMA College of General Education.
He received B.S. and M.S. in Civil, Urban & Geosystems Engineering from Seoul National University in 2005 and 2007, respectively, and Ph.D. in Energy Systems Engineering from Seoul National University in 2013. From 2013 to 2014, he worked at the Research Institute of Energy and Resources at Seoul National University as Postdoctoral Fellow. From 2014 to 2017, he worked at the Department of Petroleum & Geosystems Engineering and Center for Subsurface Modeling at the University of Texas at Austin as Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Associate. His research interests span geoenergy engineering, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), optimization, and artificial intelligence (AI). Much of his works have been on improving the understanding, design, and performance of subsurface characterization, history matching, and production optimization, mainly through the application of geostatistics, evolutionary algorithms, and big-data-driven technologies. As of March 2024, he has published 52 research articles, 1 book, and presented 107 technical presentations.

Jiyong Eom is an associate professor at the School of Business & Technology Management (BTM) at KAIST, the Head of the Graduate School of Green Growth & Sustainability (GGGS), and the Director of the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD). His research interests include energy & environmental economics and management, integrated assessment modeling for climate and technology policy analysis, climate financial risk management, and demand-side energy management. Dr Seunghan Lee is a researcher of climate change policy and currently has a position as a head of Jeonju Carbon Neutrality Support Centre, Jeonju Research Institute, Republic of Korea. He takes charge of establishing and implementing a city-level net zero plan and climate change adaptation plan.
Dr Seunghan Lee received his PhD from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom in 2022. His PhD research was about the barriers to climate change adaptation policy processes, focusing on national levels. During his PhD programme, he taught Environment Economics & Policy (PGT module) at the University of Leeds as well as worked as a research assistant at the London School of Economics and Political Science. From 2014 to 2016, as a researcher at the Korea Environment Institute, he participated in the whole process of Korea’s 2nd and 3rd national adaptation plan. He got his master’s degree from the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Seoul National University.

Dr. Yoo Kyung Lee is a Principal Research Scientist at the Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI) who spearheads research and conservation efforts in the Arctic. As head of the KOPRI-NPI (Norway Polar Institute) Cooperative Polar Research Center (2017, 2020, 2021), she fostered international collaboration. Since 2013, she has served as the Korean Delegate for the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) under the Arctic Council. Her service extends to the Board of Sustaining Arctic Observing Networks (SAON).
Dr. Lee is passionate about public education, authoring books like "Arctic Plants of Svalbard" and "Handbook of Svalbard Plants" to raise awareness of the tundra's unique flora. Her current research focuses on developing innovative monitoring techniques using hyperspectral images and AI to understand how the Arctic vegetation responds to climate change. Additionally, she is actively involved in crafting conservation strategies to protect Arctic plants facing unprecedented challenges.

Most recently he has been studying consumer preference and demand forecasting for clean technology including renewable energy and hydrogen. Dr. Jungmin Lim, a climate and energy economist, serves as an associate professor and chair of the Department of Economics at Pukyung National University. Dr. Lim earned her Ph.D. from Michigan State University, USA, in 2018. Her main research interest lie in the economic analysis of greenhouse gas reduction policies and measures and the empirical analysis of climate change impacts and policy effectiveness. She has acquired diverse research experience in climate change and policy evaluation, serving as a Research Assistant (2012-2018) during her graduate studies, and later as an Associate Researcher for State and Local Government finance and policy at the Regional Development Center (2018-2019) at MSU. Following this, she conducted research on carbon neutrality and greenhouse gas reduction policies as a research fellow at the Korea Energy Economics Institute (2019-2021). She is currently leading an NRF research project focused on sustainable energy system for carbon neutrality, serving as the director of research.
She has contributed internationally as a government delegate advisor for the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC and its subsidiary bodies ('19-'20) and an expert reviewer for the IPCC 6th Assessment Report WGIII ('20-'22). Currently, she actively participates in various government committees related to climate change policy, including the Deliberation Committee on Determinations of Allocation(‘21~’24) and the Emissions Certification Committee (‘24~present) of the Korean ETS, and the Expert Committee on Energy Policy (‘24~present).

Sang-Hyeon Jin is a Professor at the School of Public Administration, at Kyungpook National University. He worked as a researcher at the Seoul Development Institute in South Korea. Dr. Hyeyeong Choe is a spatial modeler and spatial big data analyst. She holds the associate professor position in the Department of Forestry at Seoul National University. Her research interests encompass conservation planning, landscape ecology, forest management, and climate change adaptation strategies.
Dr. Choe received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis, in 2015. She participated in research, including predicting the impact of climate change on the ecosystem and establishing climate change adaptation strategies for California and U.S. federal government agencies.
She has extensive research experience in land management strategies for biodiversity conservation. In recent studies, she combined a species distribution model and satellite imageries to evaluate plant species richness on the Korean Peninsula. She also proposed forest management policies for biodiversity conservation using land use and climate change scenarios.

Dr. Seung Hee Kim is a research associate professor and associate director of the Institute for Earth, Computing, Human and Observing (ECHO) at Chapman University. Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. in atmospheric and oceanic sciences from UCLA in 2010. Following a year-long postdoctoral fellowship at Yonsei University in Korea, he joined Chapman University. His primary research interests include climate change impacts on agroecosystems and wildfires, climate variability in California, remote sensing data applications, and machine learning techniques for severe weather and other natural disasters.

Jihoon Min is a Research Scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). He is affiliated with 'Transformative Institutional and Social Solutions (TISS)' Group and 'Sustainable Service Systems (S3)' Group within 'Energy, Climate, and Environment (ECE)' Program. He has a broader research interest in the linkage between energy use, inequality, and development. He has been working on developing the idea of 'Decent Living Standards’ and investigated the implications of accomplishing decent living standards in developing countries on the global energy/emissions pathways. He worked intensely with MRIO (multi-regional input-output) models to estimate consumption-based final energy footprints incurred by raising standards of living in developing countries. His previous works include quantification of uncertainties in consumption-based footprints, impacts of diet changes on energy and nutrition, empirical analysis setting standards for decent living, and impacts of lowering inequality on climate change. Dr. Min received his doctorate in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University (USA), where he investigated the behavioral aspects of the limited adoption of efficient technologies.
